I caught a bit of Jean-Claude Van Damme in Bloodsport last night. That's one of the classic martial-arts movies i remember from back in the day.

"Frank Dux has spent most his life being trained by Tanaka to participate in the Kumite, the ultimate martial arts tournament..."

Looks like Van Damme is now in pre-production on a movie called Kumite. Obviously some sort of follow-up, but this time written, directed, and starred in by Van Damme himself. And no longer Frank Dux, now he's Vic Latour. Hoo-ah.

Some notes from what I saw:
- there's always international politics going on - and police departments failing to work together.
- the best fighters are emotionless - or nearly so.
- (obviously) the girl needs to be saved from the bad guys (and then kissed)
- bad guys kill without mercy, good guys kill because they have to.
